Novena to the Holy Spirit

OPENING PRAYER:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful

and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.

And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew;

On our dryness pour your dew;

Wash the stains of guilt away.

Bend the stubborn heart and will.

Melt the frozen, warm the chill.

Guide the steps that go astray.

Romans 8:11-18

If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in

you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give

life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in

you. So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the

flesh, to live according to the flesh— for if you are living

according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are

putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all

who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear

again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by

which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies

with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children,

heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed

we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

V: Renew your wonders in the Church of our day and in

each one of us, as by a new Pentecost.

Increase in us the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love, we pray

to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Come Holy Spirit,

Renew your wonders in this our day, as by a new Pentecost.

Grant to your Church that, being of one mind and steadfast in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and following the lead of the successors of Saint Peter and the Apostles, it may advance the reign of our Divine Savior, the reign of truth and justice, the reign of love and peace.- Amen
