Consecration to St. Joseph - Day 18 of Preparation
Joseph Most Prudent, Pray for us.
The virtue of prudence allows a person to avoid erroneous extremes--neither too lenient or harsh in every situations of life. Human prudence guides a person to avoid difficulty, suffering, and hardship. St. Joseph was endowed with supernatural prudence which did not seek to avoid suffering; his virtue of prudence embraced the cross out of love and always strived for the greater good.
St. Joseph will help us to increase our virtue of prudence and to exercise supernatural prudence. He will help us choose to do things that ought to be done and things that should be avoided; he will guide us to choose what is right for the sake of love of God and neighbor. He will help us ponder, pray, discern, and act rightly.

O God, who, in your loving providence, chose Blessed Joseph to be the spouse of your most Holy Mother, grant us the favor of having him for our intercessor in heaven whom on earth we venerate as our protector. You, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never has it been known that anyone who asked for your help and sought your intercession was left unaided. Full of confidence in your power, I hasten to you, and beg your protection. Listen, O foster-father of the Redeemer, to my humble prayer, and in your goodness hear and answer me. Amen.
