Matthew 5:13-16
You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Love Through Deeds
Jesus sends his disciples out to love the world, to be the light of the world. Jesus invites us to the same ministry, to love unabashedly, to live with magnanimity. The invitation is to be a visible, walking, breathing, engaging testament to God's love in our world.

In the Spiritual Exercises, St. Ignatius says, "Love shows itself more in deeds than in words." A great insight, but what does it mean for us to show love through our actions?

I invite you to take a moment and imagine yourself moving through your daily routine. Observe yourself, as it were, at a distance, from getting out of bed in the morning to ending the day. As you watch yourself engage with people along the way, ask: How am I showing love through my deeds? How might I love others more visibly through my actions? Today ask for the grace to let your light shine brightly before others in order to bring greater glory to God.
